A concept takes shape

Publisher and ex-Slug Dan Pulcrano stopped by Bonny Doon Vineyard’s Ingalls Street tasting room during the July Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association’s Passport Day and got talking with chef Charlie Parker on a sunny Santa Cruz day about the good things happening in Santa Cruz’s culinary culture. Dan mentioned that restaurant communities around the country were banding together to commonly promote their culinary craft and connect with customers through “restaurant week” promotions. The seeds of pulling one together took shape that day. Dan wanted to do it next year. Charlie figured sooner rather than later might not be a bad idea… Santa Cruz Weekly publisher Debra Whizen said she thought we could pull this off in the space of a couple of months. One thing led to another, and now there’s a website, a logo and a date set. Restaurateurs, it’s up to you now. Menu up!
